Cobalt!
Cobalt Ionic Minerals (20 +/- ppm) Dietary Supplement
Recommendation: 1/2- 1 tsp. per day
How to convert ppm to mg
and US RDA recommendations
Cobalt is
an essential mineral although the body only needs a small amount...trace mineral. Research
now indicates that cobalt helps with the repair of the myelin sheath, pernicious anemia,
and the building of red blood cells. Some enzymes are stimulated by the interaction of
cobalt.
Dietary supplement cobalt and vitamin B12, together in the
human body, result in the creation of cobalamin. Cobalt may also increase the body's
ability to absorb and utilize vitamin B12. Deficiency of cobalt resulting in
decreased cobalamin can also result in hormonal imbalance.
Be sure to include vitamin B12 and cobalt when supplementing
with folic acid. Folic acid intake can actually mask a B12 (cobalt) deficiency.
Some strict vegetarians may need to use cobalt and vitamin B12 as a supplement
because the rich folic acid content in green vegetables can allow irreparable nerve damage
by once again masking the B12 deficiency.
Below is a list of some conditions resulting from Cobalt deficiencies:
